| .Role- Mechanical Design Engineer Location- Glasgow Term- Permanent THE COMPANY Our client, a leading engineering, design and manufacturing company operating in Glasgow JOB DESCRIPTION Preference for candidate to have obtained an Honours degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. However HND/HNC or equivalent in Mechanical based engineering together with suitable, proven commercial experience may be acceptable. Preferable to have experience in rotating equipment design and/or the Nuclear Engineering Industry or alternatively pressure vessel design to ASME. Basic knowledge of rotating machinery and/or sound commercial awareness will be assets although it is recognised there will be a need to train the successful applicant on the technical and commercial aspects of our business. Ability to carry out fan selections would be of benefit, though training would be provided. Computer literacy is essential. Experience in the use Autocad, Mathcad and similar programs is an advantage but not essential. Required characteristics: Disciplined and conscientious approach to work and a logical approach to overcoming problems. Willingness to take ownership of allocated projects and flexibility in handling these is a key characteristic for this role. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are also essential as the role will require close working relationship with fellow team members and with personnel from other departments. Customers and suppliers are from a global base, therefore candidate will be expected to recognise the cultural challenges of operating in a World market. Specific job requirements (e.g. physical requirements, extensive travel, etc.) .
